ABIOtech provides support in the measurement of analytes in various matrices through the assembly of standardised methodologies, as well as through the development of new methodologies and procedures. Our work is primarily focused on fatty compounds and antioxidants.

We develop and set up analytical methodologies according to our client needs, for which we use standardised protocols (AOCS, ISO, EP, USP) and scientific literature.

Research and Development services

If you have an idea and do not know how to turn it into a real solution, ABIOtech can be your strategic ally.

In ABIOtech we are dedicated to supporting our clients in formulating and executing their R&D projects from the idea (TRL1) to a pilot solution (TRL7), including support in raising financing from public funds and the technical-economic evaluation of the process.

Our experience allows us to support in extraction, separation and fractionation processes in different industries, from mineral purification to biomolecule recovery.

Our main areas of work focus on the development of products from natural raw materials, with a special focus on agro-industrial residues:

Recovery and purification of polyphenols from fruits, vegetables, and agro-industrial residues.
Purification of biomolecules from oily byproducts: tocopherols, tocotrienols, carotenes and sterols.
Recovery of proteins from plant raw materials (e.g. lupine, raps) and animal sources (e.g. fishing and salmon farming residues).
Recovery and purification of saponins from plant raw materials.

Scaling up services

We have equipment for process piloting with the aim of validating processes and obtaining product samples. Our main equipments are:

Vessel with stirring and heating/cooling system.
Frame and plate filter.
Pilot chromatographic column.
Nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration membrane system.
Vacuum wipped evaporator.
Spray dryer.

Engineering services

We carry out process scaling studies from the laboratory to industrial scale to evaluate the technical feasibility of the processes, sizing equipment, and advising on the search for suitable equipment according to process requirements.

We conduct technical-economic feasibility assessments of the processes that allow our clients to understand the OPEX and CAPEX of their projects, and look for points of improvement and optimisation in their processes.
